Date when LC is filed if its in a category where LC is required. If its NIW or Scheduled A then PD is date I 140 is filed.

Your mother can file a B-2 extension request on an I-539. She should not need to file an Affidavit of Support, just provide reasons why she wants to extend beyond the initial admission period. In my experience, CIS is very generous in granting extensions of visitor status. It my take a few months to get an approval. However, as the previous poster says, she can stay in the US while the extension is pending IF the extension is filed before her current status expires. Good luck.

Anybody who had an I94 issued only till the validity of the visa and not until the I-797? At the POE the guy simply wouldn't understand when I tried to explain to him that I have an extension (797) valid from 4/10 t0 4/11. He gave me an I94 only until 4/10. I read that people go for deffered inspection and get it corrected. Anybody who did that in a similar situation active in IV now? Any suggestions on how to proceed? do you go to the nearest international airport or an off-airport location?
Its common for IOs at POE to do this. Their side of the explanation is that they cannot give you an I-94 based on a I-797 which will be valid in the future. Like others suggested, you will have to either re-enter US immediately after the current I-94 expires or go to the nearest intl airport and get this done by defferred inspection.

My employer after too much of talks is ready to file. But in all the applications he wants to put his address so that he receives the EAD card and AP..He is not ready to put my address. Can he keep my EAD card ?

I filed I-140 and I-485 together in Aug 2007. I got I-140 receipt waiting for I-485 receipt.
I-140 - Status - Pending
Can I work in UK or Canada for some time?

You should be good if the University (UNVA?) is currently unaccredited and has a future chance of accreditation. USCIS might be more lenient for a SEVIS registered school and approved to operate in the state by the respective state education board. Consult an attorney for legal advise.

The battle for comprehensive immigration reform is going to be tough as Senate Republicans play politics with the critical immigration issue. The Senate passed its $44.3 billion fiscal 2010 Homeland Security appropriations measure 84-6 last week after three days of debate that differentiated the bill from its House companion on a handful of border security and immigration policies. Unfortunately Senate Republicans used the opportunity to add significant new provisions to the less controversial �extender provisions� including an extension to the Special Immigrant Nonminister Religious Worker Program and the Conrad Waiver Program for Physicians Serving in Underserved Areas. The Senate also included a provision promoted by AILA member Brent Renison to allow the foreign-born widows, children and parents of citizens who have died to retain their legal status to seek citizenship for two years after the death. Senate Appropriations Bill a Mixed Bag of Immigration Provisions (http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=29510)
Senate Republicans added a provision to their chamber�s version of the bill (Schumer: Immigration bill to be ready by Labor Day (javascript:simplePopup()

Even the Homeland Security Department spokesman Matthew Chandler said the Senate endorsement of Vitter's measure prevents real progress on immigration enforcement and is "a reflection of the old administration's strategy: all show, no substance."
In contrast, the Obama administration is trying to implement effective enforcement, he said. My brother got a B1/B2 multi-entry visa for 2 years. My mother is a green card holder and my brother didn't want her to submit an I-130 on his behalf since she became a US resident. The reason was because one of the questions that the embassy asks when you apply to get a visa to enter the US is weather a relative submitted an I-130 on your behalf or not. If yes then the embassy thinks of you as you want to enter the US and remain there until ur I-130 is approved and a visa number is available.. my question is since my borther got his visa, will it be ok for my mother to submit an I-130 on his behalf now without having the embassy rejecting him B1/B2 visa in the future(that is after his current B1/B2 visa expire in 2 years ????
Another question if a person is in the US and out of status, can a relative submit an I-130 on his behalf and if yes how good is his chance to adjust his status when the I-130 is approved in the future??

485 receipt notice is required for new EAD or for renewal of existing EAD. Pl send them a copy of the I485 receipt notice document in addition to a copy of the existing EAD card
